Jerusalem,
and the Temple Mount, as seen from the Mt. of Olives, near
the start of the Palm Sunday path (there are two Moslem mosques on
the Temple Mount; the gold domed one is the "Dome of the Rock," built
over the same place where the Temple of Solomon once stood; this
Temple area is where Jesus did so much of his teaching and where he
cleansed the Temple)
The
Chapel of the Dominus Flevit (The Lord Wept), where Jesus wept
over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41)

Walking
down the Palm Sunday path, that Jesus followed as he rode a
donkey and the people cried out, "Blessed is He who comes in the name
of the Lord!" (Matthew 21:1-11) (Mark 11:1-11) (Luke 19:28-38) (John
12:12-19)

old olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane; some of these trees
are over 2,000 years old and were here at the time of Jesus.

What
does INRI Mean?
Have you ever seen the letters or the word
INRI on altar cloths, crosses or other church objects? Do you know what
the meaning is?
John 19:19 tells us that when Jesus was crucified,
Pilate had the words, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews" placed on a
board, as a title above Jesus' head, on the cross. He had the title written
in three languages: Hebrew, Greek and Latin.
The phrase: "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" in Latin is: Iesus Nazarenus rex Iudaeorum. The first letters of each word in Latin make for the word, INRI.
In this Lenten season, may the symbols of our faith come alive for us. Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews... may He be praised!
The Transfiguration
This
is a picture of Mt. Tabor, the site of Jesus' transfiguration, where Moses
and Elijah appeared and talked with him (Luke 9:28-36).It is in the area of
Galilee, on the road from Capernaum to Cana and Nazareth. On the top, barely
visible in this picture, is a structure, the Church of the Transfiguration.
Mt. Tabor, for all you Old Testament fans, is also the place where Deborah
led the Israelites to a great victory over the enemy troops of Sisera.
(Judges 4:4-16)
