Call to Order: Lonnie Bostelman called the July 2005 meeting of the Paulding County Carnegie Library Board of Trustees to order at 7:30 p.m. The June 2005 meeting was not held. The meeting was held at the main library in Paulding.

 

Roll Call:  The following were present:  Board members: Leah Smith, Lonnie Bostelman. Sue Derck, Terry Wehrkamp, Michelle Stahl and Susie Thrasher were present. Wilma Mullins, Clerk-Treasurer; Susan Hill, Library Director; and Diana Coy, Assistant Director were also present.

 

Minutes: Sue Derck moved to approve the corrected May 2005 minutes.  Terry Wehrkamp seconded.  Motion passed.

 

Financial / Clerk-Treasurer: Motion to pay bills (May: Pay-x 9290-9363; Finance 11620-11694) and (June: Pay-x 9367-9422; Finance 11695-11765) was made by Leah Smith seconded by Susie Thrasher.  Motion passed.

 

Transfers: Wilma Mullins presented the following transfers totaling $2,139.62 for approval.  Motion made by Sue Derck, Seconded by Terry Wehrkamp. Motion passed.

Clerk Treasurer Report:

Mrs. Mullins informed the board about the review of bank contracts. She also brought the Board up-to-date on the status of the FEMA process in replacing the floodwall.  The Board made the following resolution:

The Board of Trustees of the Paulding County Carnegie Library resolves to create a FEMA Capital Projects fund and a separate account in the general fund to distribute the FEMA award. Resolution passed in the affirmative via roll call vote.   

Sue Derck said she would review the library’s insurance policy to ensure adequate replacement coverage.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Public Library Association Conference:  Ms. Hill updated the Board on the PLA Conference to be held in March 2006.

 

Name for Oakwood Branch Library: Sue Derck moved that the branch library in Oakwood be named Cooper Community Library, a branch of the Paulding County Carnegie Library system, upon the relocation of the branch in new quarters. Motion seconded by Susie Thrasher. Motion carried.

 

The LLGSF Budget:  Ms. Hill provided information to the Board regarding the status of Library and Local Government Support Fund (LLGSF) monies. This fund will continue to be frozen at 2004 levels through the end of the biennium (June 2007). 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Painting Approval:  Mrs. Thrasher moved that we approve Robert Williamson’s quote of approximately 2,000 dollars to paint the stairwell foyer as well as entrances in the children’s room and elevator area on both floors. Seconded by Terry Wehrkamp.  Motion carried.

 

Local Painting: Mrs. Hill informed the Board that the library has acquired original artwork of a Paulding County Fairgrounds collage painted by local resident, Teresa Brown-Burkard.

 

The next Board meeting would be held the third Tuesday in September at the main library in Paulding. Being no more business to conduct, Terry Wehrkamp made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Michelle Stahl seconded the motion.
