A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage.
 
 
An additional tax for the benefit of Paulding County Carnegie Library for the purpose of CURRENT EXPENSES at a rate not exceeding 2.17 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.217 for each one hundred dollars of valuation for 5 years, commencing in 2009, first due in calendar year 2010.

levy to be voted on by registered voters in Paulding County, Ohio 
on the November 3, 2009 General Election.

Text Box: The word “additional” means that this will be an “additional” tax listed on your property tax bill. This is NOT additional local funding for the library. The library currently receives ZERO local county dollars.

Text Box: In order to pass, the levy needs at least 50% plus one vote to be “For” the levy.

Text Box: Section 5705.23 of the Ohio Revised Code authorizes the Board of Trustees to declare by resolution that it is necessary to levy a tax  for current (operating)  expenses of the public library.

Text Box: 2.17 mills will cost a homeowner of a $100,000 home about $76.00 a year, or less than 21˘ a day.
[Formula: $100K home taxed on 35% of value. 35,000 x .00217 = 75.95]

Text Box: Voters will have a choice. They can either vote “For” or “Against” the levy. If a majority votes “For”, then the levy passes. If a majority votes “Against”, then the levy will be defeated.
